tested with the RPi3, and works correctly. Installing the driver before connecting the converter does not work (pre-install), but connected no problem installing.
For the RPi3 people, just change the text enable_uart=0 to enable_uart=1 in /boot/config.txt. After that you can use BCM 14 (TXD) and BCM 15(RXD).
The Pi (BCM and Python) connected to a Windows laptop (USB and RealTerm), and was able to send all kinds of data and messages back and forth.
